Eight years have passed since 14th August 2018, a date that Genoa will carry forever in its memory.
At 11:36 a.m., the collapse of the Morandi Bridge claimed the lives of 43 people, leaving profound grief in their families and an indelible wound across the entire city.
Eight years is a long time. Time passes, the city has moved forward, the new bridge has reconnected an important part of Genoa, and life has resumed its course. But moving forward does not mean forgetting.
Genoa does not forget. And neither do we.
Consorzio Pro Loco Genova, together with the Pro Loco associations that live and tell the stories of our city’s neighbourhoods every day, joins in remembering the 43 victims, in standing close to their families, and to all those whose lives were changed forever that day.
Today, many words are not needed.
What matters most is remembrance.
Because remembering means paying tribute to those who are no longer with us and preserving, for future generations too, the memory of what Genoa experienced.
